  18. Description of Working Group:
  19.     The LAN Monitoring MIB Working Group is chartered to define an
  20. experimental MIB for monitoring LANs.
  21.  
  22.     The Working Group must first decide what it covers and what
  23. terminology to use.  The initial thought was to investigate the
  24. characteristics of some of the currently available products (Novell's
  25. LANtern, HP's LanProbe, and Network General's Watch Dog).  From this
  26. investigation MIB variables will be defined.  In accomplishing our
  27. goals several areas will be addressed.  These include: identification
  28. of the objects to place in the MIB, identification of the tree
  29. structure and corresponding Object ID's for the MIB elements,
  30. generation of the ASN.1 for these new elements, and a test
  31. implementation.
